Primary Purpose of Position

The School of Business at North Carolina Central University seeks highly-qualified applicants for the adjunct faculty pool in the Computer Information Systems (CIS) Department. A selected candidate will exhibit a desire to teach at the undergraduate level.

Primary Purpose of the Organization

The School’s AACSB accredited programs serve more than 900 undergraduate and graduate students. The CIS department offers two core courses for all undergraduate business majors. Theses core courses and the following:

CIS 1100 – Business Computer Applications
CIS 2400 – Fundamentals of Information Systems

Required Knowledge

Candidates must demonstrate currency in the discipline, effective oral and communication skills, experience using instructional technology, and sound technology knowledge. Successful candidates must have the ability to work collaboratively with multiple and diverse stakeholders.

Specific tasks

Candidates must be able to teach (1) Microsoft Excel 2016 or (2) Fundamentals of Information Systems. Primary teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in one of these two areas and may include teaching in a face-to-face or online environment. Candidates will also be required to hold student office hours commensurate with teaching responsibilities.

Minimum Education

Consideration will be given to candidates who meet criteria consistent with the School’s accreditation standards. Candidates holding a Master’s degree in the discipline must also have significant, relevant professional experience. Candidates holding doctorate degrees in the discipline must have relevant scholarly publications or have recently earned the doctorate degree.
